Found in the past that games with a prize motivate the kids a great deal. I've done this with Major Midget kids and Novice kids. We call it the Gatorade cup. Place the goals in one end of the ice, divide the teams and have a battle drill. In my case, both teams are outside the blue line and I will call out 1,2 or 3 players at a time from each team and they need to score. The team with the most goals at the end of the game wins a bottle of Gatorade. Be creative with the types of battle drills you do and depending on the age of the kids be mindful of keeping it positive for all.
