What are the first things a Junior or college scout will look for in a player?

A.Can the player play?

B.Is the player a good student in the classroom?  

C.What kind of person is the player on and off the ice? 

D.Does the player have a good attitude on and off the ice?  

E.Does the player stand out in situations on the ice?

F.How does the player use their skills in all situations?

G.How do they handle pressure in every day life and in game situations?

H.Does the player over think the game?

I.Does the player do the little things and details well?

J.Can the player understand the ability to understand good from bad in key situations?

K.Does the player have leadership skills?

L.Does the player have the ability to understand the teams system?

M.How will the player fit in with the team?

N.Will the player improve?

O.Is the player strong physically and mentally?

P.Are they a smart player in all three zones of the ice?

Q.How are the players basic skills:ie. shooting, passing and skating?

R.How is the players balance, agility and foot speed?

S.How is the players mental make-up?

T.Does the player have passion and determination?

U.Does the player look for the big hit all the time?

V.Does the player look for the big play all the time?

W Hockey sense — How are the player's instincts?

X.Does the player win the 1-on-1 battles for loose pucks?

Y.Does the player play with Poise and composure?

Z.Does the player contribute to his team winning games?
