Last weekend, March 5 & 6th, was playoff weekend for the Jr Checker Squirts in Raleigh , NC. The 2nd place Jr Checkers started the weekend against the 1st place undefeated Columbia Cyclones. It was an exciting, energy packed game which went down to the wire. Frank The Tank played brilliantly in net stopping an opening face off break away and showing brilliant form throughout the game. 

The Jr Checkers broke a 2-2 tie with about 4 minutes left in the game to lead 3-2.  Right off the face off the Cyclones broke through for another breakway. The Tank fought off a hard deke to deflect the puck with his blocker. The Cyclones pulled their goalie with 1:30 left in the game and the Checkers scored an empty netter to make it 4-2.  Then with about 40 seconds left the cyclones broke for another breakway this time resulting in a penalty shot after a trip from behind. Franky tried to poke check on the penalty shot but lost his balance. The Cyclones closed the gap 4-3 but the Jr Checkers fought off the 40 second attack to win 4-3.  The first 2 goals against Franky came on2 screen shots both of which just caught the inside right post.

Next Game vs Raleigh White wasn't close The Jr Checkers led from the start with Franky making several tough saves to earn a 5-0 shutout. The Jr Checkers clinched the finals with this game. Onto the Championship game scheduled for Sunday @ 1:15pm. Or so we thought. The rink compressor blew overnight and the rink could not recover, kids and parents were disappointed after several fustrating hours at the rink.

Squirt Jr Checkers are now in limbo awaiting ruling / reschedule from the CHL.

The Squirt Jr Checkers lead the weekend wih 2-0-0 with 4 points and a birth in the Championship Game.

Franky improves his first season 2010-2011 record to 24-7-7 with a GAA of 2.5 and 6 shut-outs.
